A very unusual pre war kimono. Probably originated in the Taisho era, and was later reworked. It is a meisan weave, with a vertical gold lame stripe running down the centre of each panel. The pattern itself is of doves on a deep red pinstripe background. The whole kimono has is lightly padded with silk. The lower body is lined with silk and the upper with cotton. It has the addition of a black silk satin collar which gives a utilitarian look to the piece, and forms a strong contrast. There are horizontal seams across the front of both sleeves. The condition is excellent.
