A fantastic Taisho period lacquered frame in the form of a shrine. Black lacquer body with gilded decoration.
The steps and eves are decorated with paulownia mon. The side pillars are decorated with gold dragons, and the curved roof is in white crackle lacquer, with a flock of cranes. Cinnabar panelled doors open to reveal a white crackle lacquered interior decorated with a flight of cranes. The aperture is lined with green baize. This really is a spectacular piece.
